Sustainably sourced acacia & bamboo

30-day returns

We started The Tidy Kitchen with a simple frustration: every "kitchen organiser" we could find was thin plastic, sized for nobody's actual drawer, and destined for landfill within a year. Cutlery trays that rattled loose. Coffee bar caddies that looked cheap the day they arrived. None of it felt like it belonged in a kitchen you'd actually want to spend time in.

So we set out to make the alternative — organisers built from real wood, designed to fit the awkward, non-standard drawers most of us actually have, and made well enough to outlast the kitchen they started in.

Why acacia and bamboo

We chose acacia and bamboo for the same reason we chose to do this at all: they're materials that get better with use, not worse.

Acacia is a dense, naturally water-resistant hardwood, often grown as a by-product of other agricultural plantations rather than felled from primary forest. It takes an oil finish beautifully, develops a warm patina over time, and is tough enough to handle the daily knocks of a working kitchen — which is why you'll find it in our coffee bar organiser and countertop pieces.

Bamboo is technically a grass, not a tree, and it's one of the fastest-growing plants on earth — some varieties grow more than a metre a day and reach full maturity in three to five years, compared with decades for hardwood trees. That makes it a genuinely renewable material, and its tight grain makes it naturally moisture- and odour-resistant, ideal for the drawer inserts that hold your cutlery, tea bags and coffee pods.

Both materials are finished with food-safe oils, never with plastic laminates or synthetic coatings, so what arrives at your door is what it's made from — real wood, nothing hidden underneath.

Made to fit, made to last

Kitchen drawers are rarely a tidy, standard size, so wherever we can, we design our organisers to expand — extending gently to fit the actual width of your drawer, rather than leaving gaps at the sides or, worse, not fitting at all. It's a small detail, but it's the difference between an organiser that gets used every day and one that gets shoved to the back of a cupboard.

We'd also rather you bought one organiser that lasts than three that don't. Every piece we make is designed to be repaired with a little sanding and oil rather than thrown away, and we stand behind that with a 30-day returns window if something isn't right for your kitchen.

Sustainability, honestly

We're a small team, not a huge supply chain, and we try to make decisions that hold up to scrutiny rather than ones that just sound good. That means sourcing acacia and bamboo from responsibly managed plantations, shipping in recyclable and minimal packaging, and building products designed to be used for years — because the most sustainable organiser is the one you never need to replace.

We don't claim to have it all figured out, and we're always looking for ways to do better. If you have questions about where or how something is made, we're genuinely happy to answer them — just get in touch.

From our kitchen to yours

Every organiser we make starts with the same question: would this earn its place in a kitchen we actually use? If the answer's yes, it goes on the site. We hope it earns a place in yours, too.
